Exposure and Response Prevention (ExRP)
ExRP is an evidenced based therapy specifically designed for treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Sometimes OCD can go undiagnosed due to common misconceptions. OCD appears in many different forms, but has the common components of obsessions and compulsions that are present regardless of its manifestation. Obsessions are intrusive thoughts that are disturbing to a person and compulsions are either physical or mental actions that follow an obsession and serve to relieve a person’s distress. ERP is a time-limited treatment approach that can eliminate the symptoms and allow a person to live the life they desire.
